Its members were made up largely of the wives of important political, business and social leaders and as such had a strong influence on American life. Besides reporting on the activities of the DAR, each issue has articles of historical interest primarily on the American Revolution and the colonies. The magazine's title was changed in December 1937 to National Historical Magazine.
