From the Editor's Note: "Most of the text here used is from the Edinburgh Edition of Stevenson's works. Of that edition it is Volume III, issued in 1895. The Edinburgh Edition is divided into three major sections: The Amateur Emigrant, The Old and New Pacific Capitals, and The Silverado Squatters. The larger part of the first section, dealing with Stevenson's crossing of the Atlantic, had not been published before and was bowdlerized at the insistence of family and friends.
