Part I outlines the historical, economic, social and cultural background of postwar Italy and the movement of men and ideas as the basis for social change. Parts II and III treat in detail the structures and mode of operation of the major institutional components of civil society and the state. Part II, therefore, is devoted to the Catholic Church, political parties, and interest groups, while Part III examines the various institutions of the state system (executive and legislature, public administration and the military, the judiciary, and regional and local government).

9 CELLINI, BENVENUTO The life of Benvenuto Cellini.
New York Charles Scribner's Sons 1908 Hard Cover
Newly translated into English by John Addington Symonds. With mezzotint portrait and sixteen reproductions of Cellni's works. 464 pages, 9 plates, cloth, ex-library with usual library markings, some shelf wear, text very good. From the Columbia Encyclopedia, Sixth edition, Benvenuto Cellini, 1500-1571, Italian sculptor, metalsmith, and author. His remarkable autobiography (written 1558-62), which reads like a picaresque novel, is one of the most important documents of the 16th cent. Cellini tells of his escapades with the frankness and consummate egoism characteristic of the Renaissance man. He was born in Florence, the son of a musician; he studied music until his 15th year, when he was apprenticed to a goldsmith. Banished from Florence after fighting a duel, he went from town to town working for local goldsmiths and in 1519 went to Rome. Under the patronage of Pope Clement VII he became known as the most skillful worker in metals of his day, producing medals, jewel settings, caskets, vases, candlesticks, metal plates, and ornaments. Imprisoned on false charges, he worked at the court of Francis I at Paris after his release. He returned to Florence (1545), remaining until his death. The decorative quality of his work, its intricate and exquisite detail, and its workmanship are typical of the best of the period.

11 Cloutier, Patrick Regio Esercito: an introduction to Italian Royal Army campaigns 1935-1943.
Bayside, NY Europa Books 2008 1891227165 / 9781891227165 Hardcover Very Good in Very Good dust jacket
196, [1] pages, well illustrated (some in color) , many maps, cloth, DJ, very good. 8 by 11 inches. From the DJ: The history of the Royal Army from 1935 to 1943 is one that for years has been written about. Little however, has been said about long-held beliefs dealing with the effectiveness or ineffectiveness of Italian military might during this period in the history of Fascist Italy. Drawing on an extensive number of sources, author Patrick Cloutier has been able to write a relatively concise, yet detailed account on the activities of the Italian Army during this critical period in the history of the Italiane Regio Esercito (Italian Royal Armed Forces).
