Hoffman, Peter Hitler's Personal Security. London MIT Press 1979 0262080990 / 9780262080996 Hardcover Very Good in Very Good dust jacket Xiv, 321 pages, well illustrated, maps, cloth, DJ, very good. From the foreword: "The present investigation grew out of a study of coup d'etat and assassination attempts made against Hitler by the German Resistance Movement from 1933 to 1945. Witnesses to those events, survivors of the Resistance, and former members of Hitler's entourage, often categorically asserted that Hitler was much too well protected for any assassination attempt to succeed, or, on the contrary, that he was so poorly protected that almost anyone would have found it easy to kill him. It seemed worthwhile to try to find a documented, non-speculative explanation for this contradiction through an objective examination of the evidence. ~ An earlier edition of this book appeared in German in 1975, although the English version was written before the German one. The interval proved beneficial in that a good deal of newly-discovered material and improved knowledge can be presented here. " EDG_40 ; 321 pages Price:
