Kelver, former secretary of the American Single Shot Association, who corresponded frequently with Roberts during the later years of his life, has gathered into a slim, 99-page volume, Roberts' writings on the single-shot breechloading rifles used in target shooting from about 1880 to 1910. The book is a generous tribute to the author but it is also an excellent account of single-shot rifles. Not only does it explain the manner in which their loading and firing at 200 yards offhand in match target competition, but it contains information about some of the men who came to prominence in the manufacture and shooting of them- F. J. Rabbeth, Harry M. Pope, A. M. Zischang, George C. Schoyen, W. M. Farrow, A. O. Niedner, and others.
