1 LEYSON, CAPTAIN BURR [WATKINS] Wings for offense. A completely revised edition of Wings of Defense.
New York E. P. Dutton & Co. , 1942 Hard Cover Very Good
218 pages, 16 plates, 1 chart, cloth, ex-library with usual library markings otherwise very good. From the introduction: "In the following pages the author does not attempt to detail any one particular model of the types of planes used by our Air Forces. Such is the tempo of modern air power that a design placed in production is obsolescent almost before it reaches the armed forces. A more efficient airplane of the same type - bomber, observation or fighter - is already on the drawing board of the engineers. Each model sees higher technical advances in its successor. The result of this constant advance in the science of aeronautics precludes taking any one model of a plane as an outstanding example of its type. It must be emphasized that only the types of planes and their tactical use are standardized. We have, roughly, there main types - bombers, fighters and observation airplanes or combinations of these types."
