Yeo-Thomas' experiences as a British agent in France in WWII, his capture and escape. From The Oxford Companion to World War II: "Yeo-Thomas, Wing Commander (Forest F. ) Edward (1902-64) , English-born, but French-educated, member of SOE one of whose codenames was WHITE RABBIT. He joined the RAF in 1939 before moving to SOE in February 1942 where his sledgehammer personality had scope. He parachuted three times into occupied France to help co-ordinate resistance movements there (see also France, 9) , and on the last occasion was captured. He was tortured, and then imprisoned, but escaped execution at Buchenwald by exchanging his identity with a fellow prisoner dying of typhus. He later twice evaded his captors to reach Allied lines and was subsequently awarded the George Cross. "; 262 pages Price:
