BOYINGTON, [GREGORY] "Pappy" Tonya. Indianapolis, Bobbs-Merrill Co. 1960 Hard Cover Very Good 315 pages, cloth. 1st edition, gift inscription to former owner inside front cover otherwise very good. Fiction. Based on the author's experiences when he flew with the AVG (Flying Tigers) in China, 1940-41. One of the main characters is a Marine, like Boyington, on leave from the Corps to fly with the "Flying Sharks" a volunteer group of American pilots hired to fight the Japanese by an Asian country. Despite the usual disclaimer that any resemblance to real people is coincidental, it will not be too difficult for anyone familiar with the personnel of the AVG to recognize the characters in the story. The character is probably based on Olga Greenlaw who wrote "The Lady and the Tigers". Price:
