Bill Marshall is a much respected Ghanaian playwright and television director. He has written several plays for the BBC African Theatre and in 1964 the MacDowel Association Fellowship took him to America where he wrote the award winning play The Son of Umbele. On his return to Ghana he was appointed Director of the National Film and Television Institute, a position he held for eleven years.
