1 Stinnett, Robert B. George Bush: His World War II Years.
Missoula, MT Pictorial Histories Publishing Company 1991 First Edition Softcover Very Good
Vi, 208 pages, well illustrated, maps, pictorial wrappers, 8 by 11 inches, fine. Stated first printing. From the prologue: "In September 1988, presidential candidate George Bush startled an American Legion audience when he referred to September 7 as the anniversary date of the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor. The perplexed veterans knew the vice president was a World War II bomber pilot who had performed with valor in the Central Pacific war theater. Certainly, he knew the 'Day of Infamy' was December 7. The gaffe was puzzling but the explanation was logical - the first week of September 1944 would be long remembered by George Bush as his personal Pearl Harbor. Bush made his campaign gaffe during the week of the 44th anniversary of his narrow escape from death or capture near the Japanese island called Chichi Jima. " ED_A399 ; 208 pages
