Further Errata and Addenda for the 1932 edition by Henry Wilkinson, M.D. First published in London by Longmans, Green and Co in 1877-1879. Title page reads Reprinted January, 1932. Two volumes (772 and 760 pages), 4 plates, 1 folding facsimile, 3 maps (2 folding), cloth. Slight foxing to endpaper and half title in volume I and inscription on half-title 'To my very good friends the Ware Robinsons in acknowledgment of their great kindness, September 1956, H. A. Ferrin (or R.A. Ferrin?). Slight spotting to covers of Volume II and to top of Volume I, otherwise a very good, tight and clean set. From the Preface to Volume I: 'So far as the writer has been able to learn, there is no British colony of the seventeenth century whose social history can be so fully traced, or dates form so early a stage of settlement; and it presents a more faithful picture of the habits, manners, and morals of the mother-country that at first might be expected . . . The editor has spared no pains to present such a continuous series of records or documents in extenso, that if those now unpublished should hereafter perish, as many of them probably will do, there will still be preserved a full picture of a state of society which is not the less interesting for being localised in the smallest of English plantations.' From the Preface to Volume II: 'The original letters of W. Milbourne, W. Righton, and W. Peniston, are illiterate to an extraordinary degree; and there appears to have been at that period a rudeness, violence, and disorder in the community, which faithfully reflects the age of piracy and buccaneering in the West Indies, of plots and factions at home . . . A large part of this volume is filled with proceedings against the Quakers, a sect which has entirely disappeared from Bermuda.'
